Proyecto Ya'ax Chen an exploration project in a cave system very close to Ox Bel Ha. Gary and Kay Walten of Akumal are the principal explorers of this system and good friends of ours. Samantha Smith the hydrologist who helps us has also assisted with water sampling in their system: www.locogringo.com/exploration/yaxchen/index.html

Jim Bowden and Ann Kristovich of Austin, Texas lead a team of explorers every year to Tamaulipas, Mexico. There they are plumbing the depths of what is one of the worlds deepest sink holes, Zacaton. Jim and Ann's list of accomplishments is incredible. Do yourself a favor and take a look at their site: http://www.mexicoprofundo.org/

The Quintana Roo Speleological Society has lots of good information on caves in the area. You can check their site at:www.caves.org/project/qrss/qrss.htm
